Welcome!

Welcome to the brand new Danegeld blog, the official blog for Viewmont High School's newspaper! Anyone can comment on any blogs posted here, although all comments must include the author's REAL first and last name. If you have a letter to the editor, please email it to VHS.Danegeld@gmail.com, and we will likely post it on the blog for you (assuming it is appropriate). Things will be slow at first, as everyone on the staff adjusts, but in no time, we will have numerous posts for everyone to feel free commenting to! Remember: absolutely no threatening, blatantly offensive, crude, or inappropriate language/content of any kind will be allowed. All such material will be immediately rejected. And also, remember to visit the new Danegeld Online, if you have not already, to read the most recent and past Danegeld issues! It is easily accessible from the "Danegeld Online" logo on the Viewmont Home page at http://www.viewmont.org/.

Thank you! Let's make this blog a success! Go Vikes!

I agree with you anonymous (the last one)...but that will change quickly. I will be posting soon, and plan on a more consistent blog from this point on, involving not just me, but various other authors. Hold tight, and thanks for your input!

so why can't we use anonymous anymore? I mean what if some kid wants to post but he is is socially phobic and feels more comfortable sharing his/her Opinions anonymously? We should allow more room for the various types of people who may show an interest in our blog!!! Maybe its just because Adam wants to make a list of people who disagree with him for after he takes over the world, he can't do that if we all post anonymously!

Anonymous (and the only reason I am not deleting your comment is so that I can answer it for others to see, so to hopefully clear up some confusion):

First off, I was not the one who made this decision. The administration and our advisor ordered me to create and enforce this new rule. So, no, I am not making a list of people who disagree with me. I welcome and enjoy a diversity of opinions. I do not condemn someone because of their opinions. I don't think anyone on this blog does that, or feels the way you implied that I do, in your comment. I understand your argument, and I actually agree with it. I was not excited to create this rule. But, again, I had no choice. I am not clear or sure myself on all of the reasons the decision was made, but our adviser and the administration may be worried about students being able to say whatever opinions they have without taking responsibility for them. I actually disagree with them; I am on your side. But, until I can convince them to repeal the rule, this is the way it is going to be. I am sorry...and not just for you, but for the blog, as well. I will see if I can get our advisor (Mrs. Jenkins), who is a contributor on the blog, to respond to your concerns personally, so that she can give you, and everyone else, all of the reasons the decision was made - so that you can hear it from her, not just from me.
